Nonprofit friends. You may feel like the finances are handled.

But let me assure you, unless you have certain things in place, you are just biding your time until another panic attack hits because payroll is tight.

Cash reserves.
Investments.
Lines of credit.
Policies around all of the above.

Great start.

However…

Are your investments aligned with when you will need the money?

Do your policies reflect where your organization is today and where it is going?

Having these in place is important. Making sure they still make sense as your organization changes is where the real work happens.

Why aren’t you paying future you like you pay every other bill?

Your electric bill is on autopay.

Your phone bill is on autopay.

But your future self is still waiting for you to remember about it?

If you don’t pay a bill on time, there’s a late fee.

Let me tell you about the fee that comes with forgetting to pay future you.

Paying high interest.

Paying other people instead of yourself.

Always feeling behind.

Never feeling ready for retirement.

Do yourself a favor and pay future you.

As a woman who was an athletic training student in college and did a rotation with the football team, if a player ever treated me like this, they would be wondering why they were lying next to their injured teammate, if you catch my drift.

Why do we continue to allow this behavior, and worse, just because men have an ounce of talent?

I don’t give 2 sh*ts if you can catch a ball, run fast, or throw.

You don’t get a pass for being a trash human.

What are we doing? Serious question.

Happy Sunday Funday! 🐾

Sundays are for pet posts around here because pets have life figured out way better than we do.

What do you think they are talking about?

I promise I have not been withholding treat!

Until next Sunday, give your pets an extra treat from me. 🐾

So, you changed jobs, got married, bought a house, and had a kid.

Did you financial plan get the memo?

Are your beneficiaries still the same?

Do you have enough life insurance?

Are you saving enough for retirement based on where life is NOW?

Life changes.

Your financial picture needs to change with it.

That’s why I check in with clients at least once a year after we get their plan set up.

We look at what has changed, what needs adjusting, and what we need to do to keep things moving in the right direction.

Is your plan up-to-date.

I promise I am not that intimidating once you get to know me. But also, don’t FAFOK, love ya, byeeeee!

We are sending toddlers down to strangers to ask them to give them the baseball they caught now?

Did I miss something?

If you would have given the kid the ball you caught, good on you.

But this guy has absolutely 0 obligation to hand over this ball.

Stop trying to vilify people for just living their lives.

Your retirement account looks like it is on Ozempic.

But somehow your spending keeps getting bigger.

You got a $10k raise…so why does your bank account look the same?

And don’t just blame it on inflation.

I get it, things got more expensive.

But, your budget expanded to take up your entire raise, and your retirement account could use a cheeseburger.

Sound familiar?

This is one of the things I help people work through.

Where is your money going?

What do you want it to do?

How do we make the pieces work together to actually meet your goals?

I mean, making more money is great.

But if it disappears without actually working for you, we have a problem.

Cash reserves aren’t money just sitting around doing nothing.

helps you keep the lights on when a grant is delayed

It keeps payroll from becoming a panic attack when a major donor changes their plans.

It gives you options when something unexpected happens.

And it gives you the ability to make decisions based on what is best for your org rather than whatever emergency is screaming the loudest at the moment.

But financial stability goes beyond cash reserves.

Your organizational funds should have a purpose, a target, and a strategy.

Are your funds positioned to support your organization’s needs today AND help you build a sustainable future?

Let’s talk.

You know where to find me.

We all remember Harambe.

A young man lost his life, and that is tragic.

A tiger was potentially in danger of losing its life as well.

Because of humans.

We still don’t know the circumstances around how the man ended up in the enclosure, and I am not here to make any assumptions.

However, it is comments like this that continue to divide us while dripping in condescension.

And I mean that especially having just hosted an event for special needs planning a few weeks ago.

And the fact that I love animals.

We are capable of having multiple feeling at once…well, I am anyway.

I won’t speak for everyone.
