Over Memorial Day weekend, what was supposed to be a direct flight turned into a 14-hour delay with two unexpected stops.
Not exactly the plan.
Like most people, my first reaction was frustration. But then it hit me—because of the delay, I got a few extra hours with my family before leaving.
That changed everything.
It reminded me of financial planning.
Life doesn’t follow a perfect schedule. Markets move. Plans shift. Surprises—good and bad—happen.
The goal isn’t to predict every twist. It’s to build a plan flexible enough to adapt when they come.
Because sometimes what feels like a setback…turns into a gift.
For me, it was more time with the people who matter most.
That’s also why financial planning is about more than just dollars and cents. It’s about creating the freedom and confidence to focus on what truly matters—family, experiences, and making the most of the time we have.
A reminder of what really matters.
