Annie Hauck-Lawson, Ph.D., R.D. is an urban agriculturalist, Master Composter and founder of ‘Brooklyn Mompost’, a compost education service sited at the Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm. Annie Hauck-Lawson served as the foodways curator of the 2001 Smithsonian Folklife Festival New York City program, overseeing eighty live presentations over a two week period of New York life through food. Her scholarship is grounded in the ‘food voice’, a term that she coined two decades ago, now an applied educational tool in the food studies community to explore ways that food serves as a channel of communication and avenue of identity for individuals and groups of people.
