Being able to afford your rent and having the money on the exact day it’s due are not the same thing.

Rent due on the 1st. Paycheck lands on the 4th. You can afford your rent — the dates just don’t align.

That’s a cash flow problem, not an affordability problem.

Flex lets eligible renters split rent into smaller payments on a schedule that works better for them. We can’t make your rent cheaper (sorry), but we can make the timing a little less annoying. 💵🏡

What is considered a good salary?

Turns out this is one of those questions with - to be honest - no satisfying answer because someone in rural Ohio and someone in Manhattan could earn the exact same salary and live two completely different lives.

The internet loves throwing around numbers like $100k as though it’s the finish line, and we’re our feeds are often flooded with people buying the house of our literal dreams age just 27, but money is so much more about context.

Curious... what salary would you consider “good” where you live? 👀

There’s a weird guilt that comes with making good money and still feeling like you’re struggling, because you feel like you shouldn’t be. SURELY you earn enough. ✨ Surely✨ you should be better at this by now.

Maybe that’s the problem with the way we talk about money. We’ve made “doing well” a number, when that number tells you very little about what someone’s life actually costs.

$70k looks very different with $2k rent, a commute, childcare, debt, healthcare. Or just… life in 2026.

And so, if you’ve ever Googled some version of this because you really couldn’t work out where you were going wrong, we can guarantee you’re ✨definitely✨ not the only one.

“Good money” doesn’t always go as far as we think it should.

Nearly half of US renters are now spending more than 30% of their income on housing, and when that many people are in the same boat, it feels worth asking whether the way we talk about rent affordability still makes sense.

There’s a lot that happens between each payday. Bills, groceries, childcare, commuting, the car that breaks at exactly the wrong time…

How much you earn obviously matters. But so does how much has to leave your account at once, and when.

Maybe affordability is a bigger conversation than we’ve made it.
