He is the barroom loud-mouth whose frat-boy behavior is outweighed in the cosmic scales by four hours of unparalleled bravery near the 38th Parallel in Korea.

She is the nurse who fought against futility in Da Nang and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years.

He is the POW who went away one person and came back another.

He is the white-haired old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket, aggravatingly slow, who helped liberate a N**i death camp.

A Veteran is an ordinary and extraordinary human being who offered his life's most vital years in the service of his country. He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. Receivables Are the Backbone of a Company

The quality of a company's accounts receivables determines the strength of a company. For example, if a company has receivables from well-established creditworthy buyers, then the company's foundation is strong.

U.S. Department of Labor to Offer Virtual Seminars in August to Help With Prevailing Wage Requirements. U.S. Department of Labor (07/22/21)

Compliance seminars will be offered by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division that will include video training on a variety of Davis-Bacon Act and Service Contract Act topics that participants can view on demand, followed by live question and answer sessions on several dates to accommodate participants’ schedules. The division will offer live sessions from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. EDT on August 11, 12, 25, and 26.

Attendance is free, but registration is required by Aug. 11.

BLS: Staffing Employment Rose in June. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (07/02/21)

Temporary help employment increased 1.3% (+33,000 jobs) from May to June, according to seasonally adjusted data released today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (Note: Initial BLS estimates on seasonally adjusted temporary help services employment data tend to be materially revised monthly and annually, according to an ASA analysis of BLS data).

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 850,000 in June (seasonally adjusted), BLS reported. Notable job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, public and private education, professional and business services (which includes staffing), retail trade, and other services. In June, the unemployment rate was little changed at 5.9%, and the number of unemployed persons held fairly steady at 9.5 million.

U.S. Department of Labor Announces Summit for Employers on Compliance Assistance and Recognition Award Programs

The U.S. Department of Labor on Sept. 14 will host, “Advancing Compliance Solutions for Today’s Workplace, Two Years and Counting,” a summit showcasing the department’s ongoing efforts to help employers comply with federal labor laws and inform workers about their rights through its modernized tools and employer recognition awards programs. The event will be both virtual and in-person.

The event will feature conversations with high-ranking departmental personnel on the department’s voluntary compliance assistance and award programs, including the Wage and Hour Division’s Payroll Audit Independent Determination program, the Veterans’ Employment and Training Service’s HIRE Vets Medallion Award program, and the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs’ Excellence in Disability Inclusion Award.

The event also will highlight the department’s innovative and modernized compliance assistance tools in a conversation with panelists from the Office of Disability Employment Policy, OFCCP, and WHD.

Remarks and panels will take place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and virtual breakout sessions will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. EDT.
