A dramatic drop in barometric pressure creates a powerful storm. NBIC is committed to helping responsible homeowners avoid, manage, and quickly recover from unexpected losses. The forecast over the next few days calls for heavy snow, high-wind, and frigid cold. This is recommended for both your primary and secondary residences in the region):

Have an emergency kit prepared should you lose power to include (flashlight, food, water, medicine, charged electronics, battery back-up, snow shovel etc..).
Maintain heat at 55 degrees or greater; Ideally, keep the heat at 65 degrees or greater throughout the cold stretch.
Open cabinet doors to promote warm airflow to water lines.
If power is lost, turn on hot and cold faucets to a gentle drip, as moving water is much harder to freeze than still water.
Be certain all exterior water sources are turned off and drained.
If you have a backup generator, review how to safely operate it and ensure you have fuel on hand.
Always operate generators outside and away from the house.
Secure any loose items stored on your deck, or around the exterior of the home.

Strap down any outdoor furniture and trash cans! If winds pick up and the “possible” tornado comes.. stay away from windows! And go to a lowest level of your home or building! DO NOT use an elevator!!
