Amazing
“We Are Still Here. Not a Memory. Not a Myth. A Living Nation.”
The wind still carries the voices of our ancestors across these plains. Every step I take in this regalia is a reminder that our history was never erased, it lives in our language, our ceremonies, our families, and our hearts.
As Lakota people, we come from a legacy of courage, resilience, and respect for the land. Long before roads crossed these prairies, our ancestors followed the buffalo, protected our people, and taught us that true strength comes from humility, honor, and unity.
This regalia is more than clothing. It tells a story. Every bead, feather, and stitch reflects generations who refused to let our culture disappear. They endured hardship so that we could stand proudly today and say:
Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ — We Are All Related.
The buffalo behind me are a powerful symbol of survival. Once nearly wiped out, they returned—just as Native nations continue to thrive, grow, and reclaim what was never lost: our identity.
Today, I stand not only for myself, but for the elders who came before us, the warriors who defended our people, and the children who will carry our traditions into the future.
The story of Native America is not finished.
We are still writing it.
