Enjoyed visiting a great exhibition in Belgrade this
weekend. These are the works of Kiki Smith, one of the
key artists of the world art scene, which are exhibited at
the DOTS gallery called PEOPLE and OTHER ANIMALS
until the 29th. October.
The concept of the exhibition was designed by Kiki Smit,
the curators are Mirjana Dusié and Ljuba Jovicevié, and
the design was entrusted to Isidora M. Never ever.
The exhibition features artworks created during the
decades-long creative career of Kiki Smith from the
1990s when the artist mostly dealt with the subject of the
human body in various aspects, over works from the
2000s that focus on animals is, fables and nature,
concluding with the most recent work "Big Moon" from
2022.
The setting, in cooperation with the artist, was designed
as a compact whole with four tapestries, fourteen
sculptures and twenty graphics and drawings
Artworks are owned by Kiki Smith, Pace Gallery su New
York and Universal Limited Art Editions.
Kiki Smith gave her first solo exhibition exactly forty years
ago, 1982. years, in New York's alternative space (The
Kitchen). She became known for her multidisciplinary
work that explores incarnation, the natural world, and the
inseparable relationship between man and animal, as well
as plants and celestial bodies. He uses a variety of
techniques and materials in his work, including sculpture,
graphics, photography, drawing and tapestries.
Kiki Smith has had numerous solo exhibitions around the
world, including over 25 museum exhibitions. Her work is
presented at five Venice biennials. She is a member of
the American Academy of Art and Literature and the
American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2017. in the
year she was awarded the title of honorary royal
academician by the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
She is the winner of many significant awards, and TIME
magazine named her as one of the "TIME 100: People
Who Shape Our World". She is an associate professor at
New York University (NYU) and Columbia University
