Harry Diamond, WQIS Executive Claims Consultant, and Kevin Beauchamp Smith, WQIS Pacific Coast Legal Correspondent, continued WQIS’ multi-decade participation in the United States Coast Guard’s Pacific Northwest Oil Spill Control Course ( “ PNW OSCC”). Harry and Kevin addressed a 37 member class of Government and Private Sector responders on Marine Insurance involvement in vessel casualty response. The PNW OSCC trains government regulators and private sector personnel in all aspects of oil spill response.

The Course returned to Port Angeles, WA after a two year pandemic hiatus. Port Angeles is a key maritime crossroads between the U.S. and Canada. WQIS has provided Marine Insurance presentations to the Course since its inception and welcomed the opportunity to once again strengthen existing relationships with regulators and responders and establish new ones. Insuring your vessel with a trusted marine pollution insurer who takes the time to lay the groundwork for effective cooperation with regulators during a spill before it even happens is part of why insuring with WQIS is “Sailing with Experience”.
