Plan the trade, trade the plan. What is life without planning? What is life without goals? What is life without structure, a framework within which everything else can exist? You take bad trades. You take trades that don’t follow your trading plan. Trading becomes too chaotic an endeavor to handle. Life requires a plan if it is to be lived to its fullest. So too does trading. Trading without a plan is navigating without a map. It’s removing the North Star. It’s destroying the compass. Trading is difficult enough as it is, let alone trying to do it without a plan! A trading plan is a very worthwhile investment of time, effort and focus for your future as a trader. It will be your guide rails and your framework. If you’re not yet experienced enough to make a trading plan, then that’s okay! Keep learning until it’s time. Once it’s in place, you can build on it, refine it, and customize it so that it best reflects your trading ruleset at any given time. Plan the trade, trade the plan. Knowledge isn’t power 👇 Knowledge applied is power. Philosopher Herbert Spencer said that the great aim of education is not knowledge but action. Knowing something is only valuable if that knowledge is actually used for something. This is quite useful when learning about the technicals in trading. There’s a point of diminishing returns where you can start to discern the line between the 10% technicals & 90% psychology. There are many technical things you don’t need to know in trading, and that time can be much better spent looking inward. This is why it’s so important to be intentional in your education. Ask “why” you’re learning what you’re learning. At Falcon, we teach what matters. Student Spotlight ! 🦅 ————————— “I started my journey with Falcon in 2018. I initially started my trading journey with penny stocks when I got introduced to the FX market by a friend. Going through quite a few courses and joining a couple of companies with little success of becoming a successful trader. After signing up to become a Falcon member everything changed. There is a quote that I resonate with so much and it says the following, “People fear what they don’t understand.” Many of my friends told me that I am wasting my time, go the conventional route and get a 9-5 that pays well and live your life on the weekends. But freedom was the goal. Always has been. Being able to live my life everyday the way I see fit. Most people get turned off at the thought of working at their craft for years until they finally master it. Yet these people are what I would call “professional procrastinators.” Most of us have spent over 10,000 hours watching TV or Netflix but won’t put the same time and energy into trading. Now think about that: You are already committed to putting the hours in. You’re just putting them in the wrong area. So now I want you to be able to shift your mind and spend the same time and energy on sharpening your sword. I always talk about working on your overall game and becoming a well-rounded person in order to succeed in trading. Don’t just spend hours on the charts but think holistically. Think about other areas of your life: Business/Finance, Health/Fitness and Family/Relationships. Let’s talk discipline👇 Why is it so important to have discipline? Well, let’s put it this way. Freedom is only useful if it’s coupled with discipline. Chances are that you, along with countless other traders reading this post, are in the trading arena because of the possibility of greater freedom. Financial, time, you name it. Thing is, a lot of people can’t handle that freedom. What do traditional jobs offer that trading doesn’t? Managerial oversight. There are people to keep you in check. There are systems to make sure you consistently arrive on time and get your job done, otherwise you’ll be penalized, and you might even lose your position. With trading, at the end of the day, no one is going to keep you in check but you. Even if you have accountability partners, they aren’t a part of you for your entire life. You need to be independently disciplined. So, let’s say you become a consistently profitable trader. Now what? What’s to keep you from recklessly spending the money? What’s to keep you from spending all your time at the club, in bed, or even at the charts? Who’s going to make sure that you never stop improving so you can stay in the game, and even level your trading up over time? You. You’re the bottom line. You must be disciplined in your thoughts, feelings, actions, habits and routines. The power of discipline comes from the strength of the purpose and “why.” If you think you’re good now, imagine what you’ll be like when you’re fully aligned😳🦅

Experiencing anxiety in your trading, especially as a new trader is common. With a lot happening at once, it’s normal to get a bit overwhelmed.

Anxiety often creeps in when you don’t believe in the positions you are taking which likely means you are taking them out of fomo- which is a big no no.

But, as time goes on and you spend time learning your strategy, refining your edge, backtesting your plan, your confidence should improve and the anxiety should strongly dissipate…

Your time has come.👇 Do you know what it took to get you here? How many generations had to come before you in order for you to be here, right now? How many sacrifices have been made so that you could be here? Truthfully, we may never know just how much it’s taken for us to be alive. What we do know is that we’re here, so it’s our turn. It’s our turn to make sacrifices, to fulfill our purpose, to show up every single day. The time has come for us to do our part in all of this. For many of us, that means making the decision to continue every single day, even when it gets tough. Even when the results aren’t here yet. Even when things don’t seem like they’re going our way. That’s what separates us from everyone else. It’s not about “hustle grind 24/7 no sleep life” It’s simply about choosing to show up. To obsess. To remove the choice of quitting and embrace this path with all of its difficulties. Remind yourself why you’re on the path. Remember what it took to get you here. Forge the way for those who will come after you. So that they might have a chance to have a fulfilling life, just like you do right now.

A huge question we get all the time is knowing when to stay out of the market and when to execute. Yes, there are some strategies that revolve around high frequency trading and that’s fine as each strategy has its strengths. We build a lot of our trades from the higher timeframe as that allows us to position ourselves in high probability trades which will give us a high strike rate and therefore win a lot more than we lose. If a trade is unclear and you try to force it, it’s probably because you have your ego involved and have a degree of impatience. There is nothing wrong in needing more information to make a calculated decision. This is usually when the higher timeframe is creating its structure to dictate the next leg of impulsive moves. We just wanted to share that lesson as we said it’s important to know when to be in the market and when not to be. Both sides are just as important as one another. 🦅
