Kara McShane received her A.B. in economics from Duke University, and her M.B.A. in finance and management from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business. She works for Wells Fargo & Company. This is a “diversified, community-based financial services company with $1.9 trillion in assets.” Perry Pelos, head of Wholesale Banking at Wells Fargo, states that, “[McShane] brings extraordinary vision, energy, experience, and industry relationships that make her ideally suited for this role.”

Nikki Giovanni teaches us to try, despite the fear of failure. Females in the finance industry face adversities when they walk into a work setting. Whether this be the presumption that they are lesser than their peers, are incapable of being tough, are too distracted by what is happening at home etc. However, as Giovanni states, we mustn’t allow these degrading acts of misogyny to influence how we approach our own lives.

Throughout her career, she held on to her beliefs and remained unflinching in her drive to stand what is right. Amelia Earhart devoted her life to the advancement of commercial aviation and advancing opportunities for women. She was affiliated with the National Woman's Party and was an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment. Earhart always worked to portray her individual achievements as examples of what women could do if given a chance. She made many pioneering efforts and showed that as long as we put our mind to things we can get things done! We can never finish if we never start!
