Realtor.com’s latest report highlighted 10 towns that suit first time homebuyers. A town in CT made that list ❗️

Newington, Connecticut ranked #4

Several factors contributed to the scores that each town received. One of the main criteria was each market having a favorable home price-to-income ratio, meaning the local home prices were not exorbitant compared to the local median annual income, making homes affordable to the average first-time homebuyer.

Historical % Change in Home Prices 📈

From the period 1991 to 2023, home prices appreciated on a national average over 290% (SOURCE: FHFA). Some markets appreciated more than others.

The “Buy real estate & wait…” folks may be onto something…

People who bought a home in 1991 using a 30 year mortgage would have a fully paid off house & their home would have appreciated a couple hundred percent.
