Had the opportunity to meet some local business owners as part of my volunteer work with the Chamber ambassador committee. Met Ben with Wired Energy at their amazing office on North Causeway, Rachelle with Maid in Volusia, and toured the townhouses at Eventide development going in on Saxon Dr.

Today we honor Juneteenth, the day marking the end of slavery in the United States. May we reflect on this important day in American history and continue to work toward an equitable future for all.

Sheriff Mike Chitwood was the guest speaker at our Rotary Club meeting this week. He is always very entertaining, and shares colorfully and directly about issues affecting our community.

The main rising threat he focused on in his talk was cyber crime and fraud. It takes many forms and the "crooks", as he calls them, are more and more sophisticated while being aided by ai in the schemes. Stay vigilant for yourselves and your loved ones especially as they age.

Edward Jones has a number of resources on detecting and avoiding cyber crime that are available, and I did a series of Facebook posts back in April focused on identifying and avoiding specific schemes if anyone needs them.

Decided it was time for some spring (summer?) cleaning. Pressure washed, some new landscaping, and a fresh flag. Not bad for being a 100+ years old!
