Whether you're enjoying the last stretch of summer or keeping an eye on today's changing weather, it's also a good reminder to make sure your home, farm, or business is ready for whatever comes next. In many parts of the country, late-summer storms can bring strong winds, hail, and heavy rain with little warning. At the same time, many families are keeping a closer eye on household budgets as economic uncertainty continues.
The good news? Peace of mind doesn't come from predicting the future—it comes from being prepared.
As a mutual insurance company, we're owned by our policyholders, not shareholders. That means our focus is on protecting our members and helping neighbors recover when the unexpected happens.
Prepared today. Protected tomorrow. That's what neighbors do for neighbors.

August is National Wellness Month—a great reminder that caring for yourself is an investment, not a luxury.
Wellness isn't about perfection. It's about making small, meaningful choices that support your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Whether it's taking a walk, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, practicing gratitude, or simply taking a few quiet moments for yourself, every healthy habit adds up.
This month, make your well-being a priority. Start where you are, celebrate your progress, and remember that even the smallest steps can make a big difference.
What's one wellness habit you're focusing on this month? Share it in the comments and inspire others!

Yesterday, the Federal Reserve announced it would leave interest rates unchanged, signaling a cautious approach as it continues to monitor inflation and the economy.
While many home & business owners were hoping for a rate cut, holding rates steady means borrowing costs and housing market trends are likely to remain similar for now.
So, what does that have to do with homeowner's insurance?
More than you might think.
When interest rates remain elevated, construction financing, labor, and material costs can continue to put pressure on rebuilding expenses. Even if your home's market value hasn't changed significantly, the cost to repair or rebuild after a covered loss may still be higher than expected.
That's why it's important to review your property insurance regularly. Keeping your coverage aligned with current rebuilding costs can help prevent costly surprises after a loss.

Grilling season is a great time to gather with family and friends, but a few simple safety tips can help prevent accidents.
-Keep your grill at least 10 feet away from your home, deck rails, overhangs, etc.
-Never leave a lit grill unattended.
-Keep children and pets at a safe distance.
-Clean grease and fat buildup regularly to reduce the risk of flare-ups.
-Keep a fire extinguisher or garden hose nearby, just in case.
A little prevention goes a long way toward protecting your home and making memories that last for all the right reasons.

Dan and Katie attended the MAFMIC Managers and Directors Seminar in Waite Park on Tuesday. They gained valuable insights into the insurance industry and brought back ideas that will benefit our team. Katie also had the opportunity to reconnect with Debbie Vollmer from Redwood County Mutual and Darin Jacobson from Marshall County Mutual—it's always great to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the mutual insurance industry! We're proud to support ongoing learning and professional development at NPCL!
