WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW Tax UPDATES:
Here’s a quick rundown of what changed in the Senate version of the One BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL:
• Increases the SALT deduction and provides annual adjustments to inflation
• Preserves the SALT deduction workarounds for pass-through entities
• Increases the CTC to $2,200 beginning this year, with annual inflation adjustments starting in 2026
• Caps the no tax on tips deduction at $25,000
• Caps the overtime pay deduction at $12,500 for single filers and $25,000 for joint filers
• Increases the reporting threshold for a few key 1099 forms, including 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC, and 1099-K
• Temporarily increases the senior deduction for taxpayers age 65+ to $6,000
• Adds a VIN requirement for the car loan interest deduction and also excludes RVs and campers
• Keeps the QBI deduction permanent at 20% and adds a new minimum deduction of $400
