🚨 Hurricane Alert: Be Prepared, Stay Safe! 🌪️

As hurricane Milton approaches Florida, it’s time to take action to protect your home, family, and valuables. Our office will be here for you leading up to and immediately following the storm. Here are a few key steps you can take to stay ready:

✅ Review your insurance policy

Make sure your homeowners, auto and flood policies are up to date. Many times, there are moratoriums on changes leading up to a storm. So make sure to update any coverages that you want to well in advance. In most storms, we have more claims filed on damage to vehicles than to homes. So don’t forget to check your auto policies as well. If you have questions about appropriate coverages or need assistance, our team is here to help.

✅ Take a video of everything in your home.

It’s best to make one long video walking in your front door and going through every room, opening cupboards, drawers and closets. Then upload it to the cloud. This will come in handy in writing up an inventory if you need to file a claim afterwards.

✅ Prepare your home:

Secure outdoor furniture, check for loose shingles, and seal windows and doors to reduce damage. Now is the time to test your generators, stock up on gas and get the shutters up.

✅ Create an emergency kit:

Stock up on essentials like water, non-perishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries and a first aid kit.

✅ Have a plan:

Know your evacuation route and keep important documents in a waterproof bag. Pay attention to local weather reports and evacuation warnings.

Our office is committed to being here for you. For any insurance questions or if you are in need of assistance, text us at (727)-214-3154.

Stay safe, Florida! 🌴🫶

Hurricane Preparation - Understanding Your Insurance Policy

As we brace for Hurricane Idalia, our phones at the State Farm office have been ringing non-stop. I wanted to offer some guidance, especially for our State Farm customers, to help you navigate this period. If you're insured with another provider, I advise reaching out to them directly for their specific guidelines.

1. Hurricane Shutters: Based on a recent confirmation from our Claims office, it's important to note that even if you choose not to put up your Hurricane Shutters, and your home sustains storm damage, your State Farm policy will remain valid. However, as always, adding an extra layer of safety is recommended (Citizens and other company policies may differ).

2. Hurricane Deductible: This is crucial to understand. Please check your policy's specific hurricane deductible. Typically, this is a percentage of your dwelling coverage amount. For instance, ours stands at 2%. This indicates that if our home incurs damage during a hurricane watch or warning, we will have a significant deductible. It's wise to take every measure to minimize potential loss.

3. Contact Details and Policy Information: Ensure you have your insurance company's claims phone number and your home insurance policy details readily available. Filing your claim promptly can expedite the settlement process.

Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Our phone number is 727-214-3154.

Please stay safe!

Based on the feedback of hundreds of our customers, we truly believe this post can make a positive impact 🙂. This will be the first of many future posts to better explain different Auto policy coverages in simple, easy to understand terms.

We’ll be using the example shown in the photo below, where the RED car (V1) is AT-FAULT for the accident and liable for all injuries and damages sustained by the GRAY car (V2).

If the RED car has BODILY INJURY coverage (which is a super important coverage to carry), It might be used to cover the injuries sustained by the GREY car’s driver and passengers (up to policy limits). This is considered one of the most important coverages in an Auto Policy!

We highly recommend to always carry enough coverage to protect any exposed owned assets. For questions, Text/Call 727-214-3154.

Note: This post was created strictly for educational purposes and to help raise awareness on different types of Auto Insurance policy coverages. It is not considered a legal advice.

Some hurricane preparedness tips that might be useful.

If you haven’t already done so, please do it.
Now is a good time to take photos/videos of everything you own inside your house/condo/apartment (Think appliances, furniture, wardrobe, electronics, TV, etc.). So that, in case of a claim, it’ll help tremendously in showing/proving the value of your personal property and the things you own that got damaged.

This post is just served as a personal advice.

If you have any questions or inquiries, please send a message or write your comment on the original post.
