Indexes rose Thursday as investors digested Wednesday's jumbo rate cut from the Fed and a fall in weekly jobless claims.

The Federal Reserve cut interest rates by half a point yesterday, making it the first reduction in four years! While this change doesn’t immediately lower mortgage rates, it's a positive step in the right direction. Homeowners who bought during periods of higher rates should stay alert and consider preparing to refinance.
Rates for home purchases have already begun to improve over the past few weeks. I encourage first-time homebuyers who are interested in buying their first home to apply and get pre-approved. Now is a great time to take that step!
