AND we knew this day would come. Today represents "Jake"s" final regular season report. This season went way too fast for all off the Friday Night Lights fans.

"Jake" will begin with the most dominating 2A team in the state since 2020, the Wilmington Wildcats coached by the 8th winningest coach in the history of High School football Jeff Reents. The 8-0 Wildcats head to Coal City to face the 4A Coalers 7-1. I have faith that the small school will beat the big school 30-28

Speaking of big schools Lincoln-Way East 8-0 will witness greatness tonight when the Hall of Famer Rob Zvonar leads his team onto the field for the final time in a regular season game when they go up against the 5-3 Lincoln Way West Warriors in Frankfort. East has only given up 34 points since Labor Day and none in the last three games. "Jake" likes East 30-7

In 7A Lincoln Way Central. 4-4 travels to Stagg 0-8 and will make short work of this night and come home with a 42-0 win to end the season 5-4 being playoff ready

Providence Catholic hosts a very powerful St Ignatius program. Both 6-2 squads are equally balanced on offense. "Jake's" gut thinks St Ignatius could pulled the upset but being a Celtic home game he's going with Providence 30-23

On to "Jake's" surprise of 2026 the 6-2 Peotone Blue Devils. "Jake's not surprised at the 6-2 record he's surprised at their dominance in those six wins. "Jake" thinks this squad has to be close to a record for points scored. Final score Peotone 45 Hersher 6

The photo on the right was almost four years ago when I first offered Jude the Director of Scial Media position at the Kevin Molloy - State Farm Agency almost four years ago. The photo on the left was at a brainstorming event two weeks ago and this weekend we'll be going through some very intense training on Saturday and Sunday. I asked him if he wanted to take a break on Friday night to attend the LWW vs LWE game and he rolled his eyes and said please "I have no time to watch football BUT you go ahead and enjoy yourself " Talk about making me feel guilty

My association with the coaching community spans almost two decades and those relationships have made me see life and manage life so much better than I would've had I not known them.

On Friday night a legend in coach Rod Zvonar will be coaching his last regular season game in a magnificent career spanning 26 years and while the wins (over 260 which he remembers few of them) and the losses (48 and he'll remember every one of them) he's built a legacy not through the wins and the losses but through the lives he's changed, the hundreds of young coaches he's inspired to become coaches. Coach Z taught a few thousand players to become better, husbands, fathers and community members. I will be blessed to be able to watch this man up close for the last time and it'll be hard when the clock reaches 0:00. What is a coach....? Look no further than Friday night in Frankfort

WELL it was bound to happen peoplee, after four seasons of the "Jake" Report I get to have bragging rights on Saturday morning. I went 5-0 while "Jake"went 4-1. We couldn’t come to a concensus on the LWW vs LWC game and I outdid "Jake" and got the W. A great game with to great 7A schools with players who grew up together on both sides of the ball. Final Score 14-10 Warriors.

Wilmington did what Wilmington does and Lincoln-Way East did what Lincoln-Way East does and both moved to 8-0. Wilmington put the hammer down on Reed Custer 42-14 and Lincoln-Way East threw its second straight shutout winning on the road over a tough a Lockport team 40-0.

Peotone traveled down the road to Manteno where to 5-2 teams locked horns, no pun intended, and the now 6-2 Peotone Blue Devils whomped on Manteno 42-13. THIS might be the strongest Peotone team in a decade.

"Jake" knew Providence was going to be a cakewalk playing Marian Catholic in Week Eight but didn't know just how easy last night would be. Final Score Providence Catholic 56-14. Providence moves to 6-2.

The Kevin Molloy - State Farm High School Player of the Week Award took us to Lincoln-Way East for Week Seven and Coach Rodeghero and I circled back to Providence to present Week Two. Two great young men.

Week Seven went to Lincoln-Way East senior WR Jack Murphy who caught eight passes for one hundred eighty-two yards and TD's against Lincoln-Way Central

Week Two went to the Providence Catholic Senior Running Back Brodan Mackert who went off on Kenwood Academy for two hundred twenty-five yards on twenty-one carries and FIVE TD's As you can see, Brodan is a LOAD.

Congratulations men and we'll see you and your parents at the Awards Banquet in December
