On February 1, 1962 a group of 12 employees from Lauson Engine a division of Tecumseh Products filed an organizational worksheet with the Wisconsin Credit Union League to form a credit union. The name of the credit union would be LA-TEC Employees Credit Union. On March 12, 19
62 the first Board of Directors meeting was held. The anticipated membership of the credit union was 500 members. In the early days the credit union was operated out of a tool box at the Tecumseh plant and out of the home of a director. On August 1, 1965 the Board of Directors elected to move the credit union to 2017 Main Street (which is still the current location of the New Holstein office). This location was the past home of Fritz's Cafe and the former New Holstein Post Office. In 1977 the members voted to change the name to LA-TEC Credit Union. On October 1, 1981 a branch office was opened in Kiel. Into 1985 the credit union was located in the old Ramminger's building. On July 22, 1985 the credit union opened its current location at 530 Fremont Street. On January 4, 1982 a branch office was opened in Chilton at 26 W. In 1990 the office was moved to 50 E. Chestnut Street which is the current location. In 2007 it was decided the credit union would be renamed Premier Financial Credit Union.
