New Haven Public Schools’ Family Learning Fun Night and Title I Annual Meeting - open to families with students in Pre-K through 8th grade.

Date: Wednesday, October 28, 2026
Time: 5:30–7:30 p.m.
Location: Celentano School, 400 Canner Street, New Haven

Families can enjoy hands-on literacy activities, math challenges, and sensory exploration while learning more about what is happening in their children’s schools. Pizza and snacks will be provided, and attending families can enter a raffle for a $50 Visa gift card.

This is a great opportunity for parents and children to learn together and connect with their school community!

Honoring: Indigenous Peoples’ Day

Today, we honor and celebrate the histories, cultures, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous peoples. We recognize the lasting impacts of historical and ongoing injustices, while uplifting the strength, wisdom, and contributions of Indigenous communities.

Mental health and well being are deeply connected to culture, community, identity, and belonging. Today and every day, we reaffirm our commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive, and respectful mental health care that honors each person’s unique experiences and traditions.

May we continue to listen, learn, build meaningful connections, and support the healing and well being of Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.

Our agency will be hosting a Family Fun Expo on Saturday, October 10th, 2026, from 10AM-2PM at the Dixwell Community “Q House”.

We will be providing a resource fair where families can walk around and learn more information about the resources and organizations available to them throughout the state and in their own community.

As parents/guardians network and learn about the different services in their area, kids will enjoy face painting, balloon twisting, crafts, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, and much more!

This event is completely FREE!

A message from: The Office of Early Childhood (OEC)

OEC - The Office of Early Childhood is accepting applications again for a new cohort of parents to become a part of the OEC Parent Cabinet!

When we use the term parent, we mean all who care for and raise children in a parenting role. The OEC Parent Cabinet is a diverse, parent-led 15-member statutory advisory committee to OEC (P.A. 23-160, Sec. 40). There are 2 to 3 members representing 1 of 6 DCF regions of the state (according to the Department of Children and Families (DCF) map). It is a 2.5-year term commitment staggered. All parents receive compensation for their time and expertise. We want to make sure parent voice is a part of state decisions and policies that affect all families, and since parents are the experts, we can’t do it without them!
