Building your child’s credit profile!

In order to help your child build credit as an authorized user, be sure that the card you're adding them to allows it and YOUR utilization for the card you're adding them to, is between 1-7% utilization.

Keep in mind, they are reporting YOUR behavior so make sure you're paying your bills on time because with your child on as an authorized user, it DOES impact them.

If it's for credit building purposes, be CERTAIN that the credit card issuer actually REPORTS for AU's. Not all do report AU's to the CRA's.

Understand that actual credit scores are typically NOT generated BEFORE the legal age of 18 however, credit reports (under specific circumstances) may be generated if they have accounts in their name.

Your credit history is the highest ranking component when it comes to a few different types of credit scoring models.

Ensure your child has the EDUCATION behind the credit score, the car, the business and if this young man already has a business then he should've gotten the car with business credit instead, that's another conversation.

You CAN'T build wealth WITHOUT wisdom!

6. Get more margin in your budget (spend less and make more with side hustles or a higher paying job)

Even though we're a little over half way through the year, you can start moving forward with your finances any day of the year.

As a mom, a parent, hell even with this economy, we HAVE to make sure we’re making smart money choices. Especially if your income has changed and or had been modified at all in the past few years. When you go from a few different streams of income to just one, you gotta think of alternatives QUICK!

You can go through ALL of your subscriptions and cancel anything that’s NOT cost effective right now.

Go through your last month bank or credit card statements, highlight EVERYTHING that is NOT a “NEED” and 🛑 spending on it. All of those door dashes add up QUICK!

Creating a budget allows you to MAKE SURE that you’re assigning YOUR money where it should go and NOT the other way around. EVERY DOLLAR HAS TO BE ASSIGNED! EVEN IF IT’S TOO SAVINGS!

If you have credit cards to pay off, I would suggest in addition to the minimum payment, pay down the cards with the HIGHEST interest rates FIRST. Those are the ones costing YOU the most.

Find programs or resources within the community that you can tap into to bring in an additional income.

You can make ALL the money in the 🌎 but if you lack money management skills and the proper resources, you’ll easily and unintentionally fumble the task each and EVERY time!

It’s NEVER to late and change old habits use the 21/90 day rule! It takes 21 days to change a habit and 90 to make it a new norm or lifestyle.

Don't think that, because you're not in the market to buy a home that credit is not important. There are so many factors where credit is considered that we may not even think twice about it. You may not be qualified for your dream job because of your credit score. Imagine that.
