Craig County Farm Bureau

Craig County Farm Bureau Craig County Farm Bureau Federation is a membership organization that works to ensure farming remains a way of life in Virginia. Quite the contrary.

Your membership in Craig County Farm Bureau benefits agriculture in your community and statewide. It also entitles you and your family to a wide variety of benefits and services we call the Member Deals Plus. Staff in our local offices are committed to providing you with assistance when you need it most and personal, face-to-face service. When you join the Craig County Farm Bureau, you support a w

ide variety of programs, educational tools and events—in your own community—that help agriculture prosper. Your membership helps give Virginia farmers a unified voice. Farm Bureau is respected among elected officials, because they know its policies come directly from farmers at the grassroots level. Your membership also helps address issues that affect all Virginians—like private property rights and the need to preserve clean water and air. We have two types of membership with the Farm Bureau:

Producer Member
A producer member is an actual farming member of the organization. Only producer members can serve in positions of leadership. All of the major decisions of Farm Bureau are made by working farmers. County Farm Bureaus determine which members are producer members. It is generally a member who sells agricultural products on a commercial basis or who owns farmland. The privileges of voting and participating in leadership roles also carries the responsibility for producer members to be active in Farm Bureau. Farm Bureau strength, and thereby the strength of farmers, can be gained only through active participation. Associate Member
An associate member is any citizen, firm or organization who shares Farm Bureau's rural philosophy and is interested in the advancement of agriculture, and who is accepted for membership by the county Farm Bureau. Associate members have the same rights as producer members, except for the right to vote or hold office. This doesn't mean that associate members are not wanted or needed. Because of associate members, Farm Bureau is stronger and more effective. Farmers make up only 2 percent of the U.S. population; however, if farmers are going to continue providing the nation and world with a wide variety of top-quality food at low prices, the farmer needs friends and allies such as associate members.

🖍️🌱 Did you know that a single acre of soybeans can produce an amazing 82,368 crayons? That's right, your child's favorite art supply has deep roots in agriculture!

Soybean oil isn't just for cooking—it makes crayons more vibrant, creates that perfect smooth glide across paper, and keeps those colorful creations from flaking away.

Next time your little artist reaches for their crayon box, you'll know there's a bit of agriculture inside!
