Every September, CMS releases what's called the "landscape," the first real look at next year's Medicare plan options and pricing. Most years, it's useful information. This year, it's worth paying extra attention to.

This is the first landscape release since the extra government support for standalone drug plan pricing ended. So instead of prices that were partly softened by that support, this year's numbers reflect what insurers are actually charging on their own.

Here's why that matters to you.
If you've been assuming this year's plan shopping will look similar to last year's, this release is where you'll find out if that's actually true. It's the real preview before the mailers and the ads start flooding in, kind of like watching the trailer before the movie actually comes out.

Once it's out, it's worth taking a look instead of waiting until October 15 to start paying attention.

If you're turning 65 while still working and covered through your employer, it's reasonable to wonder what—if
anything—you need to do about Medicare.

Because two things can be true at the same time:
You're reaching the age when Medicare becomes relevant.
AND
And you already have health coverage that's working for you.

You don't want to change coverage that's working for you unnecessarily. But you also don't want to assume
that having coverage through work means there's nothing you need to understand about Medicare.

You're not starting without coverage….
You're trying to understand where Medicare fits into coverage you already have.

We have been secretly planning this for a while now, and we cannot stop smiling. The Legacy Connection is officially on the map inside Connections Individual and Family Services here in New Braunfels!

We started this agency because my mom struggled to sign up for her own Medicare. We have helped hundred of people across the country online and over the phone, but we knew we wanted to grow some roots and get out in our community.
