A few years ago, I taught my last yoga class at a studio I'd poured my heart into building during COVID. Saying goodbye felt bittersweet.
After class, I was supposed to meet a friend for coffee. She didn't show β a mix-up with the time. Another woman from class was standing nearby. We only knew each other in passing, so I asked, "Want to grab a coffee?"
That invitation changed the direction of my life.
She told me something I've never forgotten. She was in a marriage she desperately wanted to leave. Her husband made it clear that if she left, he'd take the children and leave her with nothing.
Then she said, "My mother was in this exact same position... and she took her own life."
I sat there recognizing something. Not the same story β but the same feeling of being trapped. I'd sensed versions of that growing up. I'd lived my own version of staying longer than I should have.
I walked to my car and hit the roof with the palm of my hand. Crossing that parking lot, my life changed.
I knew exactly why I needed to build a mortgage note investing business. I wanted women to have a Freedom Fund β the ability to walk away from people, places, and things that no longer served them.
For years I thought my work was about teaching women how to invest.
Hundreds of conversations later, I learned the real obstacle was never strategy. It was believing you're worthy of freedom in the first place.
That realization became ROOTED πΏ
Freedom isn't about money. Freedom is knowing your worth isn't determined by your wealth. It's having boundaries. Finding your voice. Trusting yourself enough to choose your own life.
ROOTED opens in two weeks β two doors, in-person or online. Comment ROOTED and I'll send you the details. π
