SCAM ALERT

Scammers are calling citizens and posing as members of the Comal County Sheriff’s Office attempting to get payments for non-existent warrants, or that warrants will be issued if payment is not made. These scammers may even mention names of actual Comal County Sheriff’s Office employees to sound more convincing. Be aware! The Comal County Sheriff’s Office DOES NOT take payments for warrants over the phone.

The most recent scammers have been calling from the number 830-488-7687. This is not a Comal County Sheriff’s Office number, nor is it affiliated with any law enforcement agency. These scammers may insist that you have citations for failing to appear before a Grand Jury. It is always best to verify any call claiming you have legal proceedings, fines, or owe any money by locating the agency’s number online and calling them directly yourself.

You can call the Comal County Sheriff’s Office 24 hours a day at 830-620-3400. Any information can be verified by calling that number.

Texas!

“While the Daves lawsuit considered both felony and misdemeanor bail, plaintiffs cited decisions issued in ODonnell v. Harris County over misdemeanor bail. Now, the Fifth Circuit has determined that neither case should have ever been considered in federal court and that state legislation enacted in 2021 has made the cases moot.”

The federal appeals court threw out a 2018 ruling that has governed Harris County misdemeanor bail practices and mandated federal monitoring.
