I had an adventure on the freeway. I’m fortunate it wasn’t worse, just a quick change to the spare and a run for a new truck tire.

These things happen. With that said, as an agent I realize that many people would use insurance in this instance. The truth is, unless a client absolutely needs it, I don’t recommend you use insurance for situations like this or buy roadside assistance.

These occurances would act as a claim, and while it’s small dollars it adds to “claim frequency” which you pay for in the long run. There are third party services that handle this or most people are capable of handling themselves.

Insurance was originally designed for catestrophic protection, but it’s now often used for so much more. Yet we wonder why rates are climbing each year. If you want an agent to be honest with you, give me a shout on Monday after I’ve got this situation handled.
