The Creative Resource Center For Early Childhood Educators The resource center is a project of New Bedford Children, Inc. a local nonprofit. Message us to learn about our school rates. Donations are tax deductible.

A place where teachers and community members can come together to gather inspiration and materials to support and foster children's innate creativity and curiosity. Memberships to the center are free to all early childhood educators working in the city of New Bedford MA. A year long membership is $40 for educators teaching older grades, or from outside of New Bedford. Unfortunately due to the smal

l size of our program, we are currently unable to accommodate families or homeschoolers. A membership gets you:
-Access to all the materials in the center for free*
-Access to the children's books library (borrow books for your classroom for free).
-Access to the teachers books library (borrow books to continue your journey as a life long learner and get new ideas and techniques for your classroom practice).
-Access to the themed learning kits (borrow for some fresh materials for your classroom).

*Some select items are available only to educators in New Bedford due to donor request. Everything in the center is brought to us by donation. We area always accepting new donations. Contact us if you have materials you think may be a good fit. Financial donations help us keep our doors open! The resource center is a program of New Bedford Chidlren Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. *CLOSING UPDATE*

This past week we have had so many amazing educators come to the center to gather free materials.

****Due to the speed at which the center has been emptying, the closing date has changed. THIS SUNDAY WILL BE OUR FINAL DAY!****

We will be open: Saturday and Sunday 11:00-5:00.

This is your last chance to come get some unique and creative materials for your classroom!

To answer some commonly asked questions:

"Why are you closing?"
The New Bedford Children board of directors voted to close the resource center for a number of factors but chief among them was the personal choice of myself (Marissa) to step down from the role of running the resource center to pursue a new chapter in my life.

"Does it matter if I'm not from New Bedford?" "What if I teach older grades?"
All educators are welcome and everything is free to all.

"Do I need an appointment to come during the open hours?"
Nope! Just show up!

"How much stuff is left?"
Hard to say because it keeps changing but I will do some Facebook live videos throughout the weekend to show what there is.

Has your washable (tempera) paint gone chunky? Don't worry! It's probably still good. Just add some water and mix till smooth.

When to discard it: when the paint smells funky and/or is over 3 years old.

We have tempera paint here at the center for you to mix up some custom colors for your classroom. Our artists can show you how using the color wheel.

Last night after the workshop several educators took the opertunity to collect materials for their classrooms. Here is Karen, a special education teacher at New Bedford Public Schools with the materials she had picked out.

Karen had just gotten live caterpillars for her students to study and was ecstatic to discover we had a butterfly habitat, books and lots of other materials to support this project. She spent time with our executive director Marissa brainstorming ideas for lessons that can bring literacy, math and art into this butterfly study in a holistic and child centered way. We can't wait to see what her students do!
