This month, we are sharing a story from the Boston Marathon that is hard to forget. During the closing stages of the race, first-time runner Ajay Haridasse collapsed near the 26-mile marker with severe leg cramps. After repeatedly struggling to get up, Haridasse was preparing to crawl the final stretch of Boylston Street.

That is when two fellow competitors, Aaron Beggs and Robson Oliveira, decided to stop. With their own finish times and personal goals on the line, they lifted Haridasse between them and supported him all the way across the finish line. Haridasse tracked both men down by their bib numbers afterward just to say thank you.

This story is a beautiful reminder that some of the most powerful moments happen when someone chooses to slow down for another person. In a race where every second counts, these two chose something that mattered more.

The 2027-2028 FAFSA is open as of October 1, 2026. If you or a student you support plans to attend college during the 2027–2028 academic year, it is a good idea to get started on the process early. So, with that in mind, our team wanted to share a few early steps that can help streamline the process:

🔹Create or verify your StudentAid.gov account.
🔹Gather essential financial documentation, including 2025 tax returns, W-2s, and income records.
🔹Determine which parent(s) or contributor(s) will be required to provide information, if necessary.
🔹Review college, state, and scholarship deadlines, as many institutions award aid on a first-come, first-served basis.

While the federal FAFSA deadline is June 30, 2028, many colleges and states set earlier priority deadlines for aid consideration, so submitting your application early can improve access to institutional, state, and need-based aid.

If you have questions about college funding strategies or how education expenses align with your overall financial plan, please contact our office. We are here to assist you.

Help us welcome the newest member of the Nightingale team: Evelyn, our Director of Client Experience!

As Nightingale continues to grow, so does our commitment to providing the personal, thoughtful experience our clients expect from us. Evelyn joins us after serving as Director of Operations for a small business in Minnesota, where she supported clients, coordinated events, and kept countless details running smoothly. At NWS, she will be focused on making every client interaction feel seamless, personal, and well cared for.

With our growth, Abby Klein has also stepped into a new role as Director of Client Engagement. Abby will be focused on creating the educational programs, client appreciation events, and special experiences we host throughout the year.

Originally from Wisconsin and new to Boston, Evelyn is always looking for restaurant and weekend recommendations. When she is not exploring, you will likely find her at yoga, reading a novel, or spending time with friends and family. With summer behind us and routines back in full swing, fall brings a natural time to reflect on progress made and refocus on the progress ahead.

However, progress doesn’t always look the way we expect it to. Sometimes it’s fast and visible. Other times, it’s quiet and barely noticeable.

What matters most is that we keep moving, even when the pace feels slower than we would like. We don’t have to have it all figured out. We just have to keep going.

What is one area of your life where you are making steady progress right now? Share it in the comments. We would love to cheer you on.

August has a way of reminding us that change is already on its way. Summer is not quite over, but the days are already hinting at something new. Earlier sunsets, a slight cool in the morning, and a quiet sense that a fresh season is just around the corner.

It can be tempting to hold on to what is familiar and comfortable, but this month is a gentle nudge to look forward instead. This is the moment to channel something new: a goal, a habit, or a mindset shift that moves you toward the next chapter with intention.

As we move through August, what is one thing you are ready to build or step into? Feel free to share it in the comments. We would love to hear what you are looking forward to.

The Nightingale Team is walking in the Steps 2 Cure NF (Neurofibromatosis) walk in honor of Eric Rutkin (Abby's brother) on May 17th in Wakefield, MA. Our goal is to raise $5,000 this year & we would love your help!

You are welcome to join us in walking on May 17th! We are hoping to have a huge group of walkers this year! Walking helps to raise awareness and your walk fees are a donation to the NF Foundation.

OR If you are unable to join us in walking, please consider supporting Steps2Cure NF by donating.

Abby lost her brother Eric at 38 to his battle with brain cancer caused by an NF tumor in May of 2024. Supporting Steps2Cure NF - Greater Boston is our way of continuing his legacy of supporting NF research in the hopes that we can find a cure for this genetic disorder that affects 1 in every 2,500 people. You can read more about his story on our team page.

To sign up for the walk or to donate, just click through on the link below - both options are easy to find right on our team page! Thank you so much for your help!
