The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists that our local deer are feeling extra festive this month. They are dashing, dancing, and prancing across parish roads with zero respect for traffic laws.

To avoid an unplanned meeting with “Rudolph’s Cousin”:

Slow down in deer-heavy areas
Use high beams when you can
If you see one deer, assume the whole Christmas choir is close behind
Brake in a straight line
Buckle up

Enjoy the season. Keep your vehicle intact. Give the deer a chance to finish their holiday shopping too.

Drive smart and watch for wandering reindeer-in-training.

Before now, a person who got in a car wreck could easily sue for an injury without even proving the wreck caused the injury. A new law required those claiming bodily injury to provide evidence that the injury was actually caused by the wreck, helping prevent excessive litigation and helping to make the system fairer for everyone.
