📣 A Quick Insurance Market Update
Been having a lot of conversations lately with business owners about what’s happening in the insurance market, so I thought I’d share a quick update.
Great News: Property insurance is starting to feel a little more favorable. We’re seeing more competition in pricing, and after several years of a tough property market, things are starting to soften. That doesn’t mean everyone is seeing lower premiums, but there is more opportunity and capacity in the market.
The not-so-good news: Liability is moving in the opposite direction. We’re seeing a harder market develop in areas like General Liability and Umbrella coverage. Claims costs continue to rise with nuclear verdicts, and carriers are becoming more selective about the risks they want to take on.
What does this mean for business owners?
👉 The property side of your insurance program may have more opportunities than it did a year or two ago. The market may have better pricing and terms for you.
👉 On the liability side, it’s becoming paramount to have a strong insurance strategy & risk controls, and willingness to adopt more preventive measures. The hardening market favors and rewards proactive management practices and risk prevention.
Every business is different, but the overall market is changing—and it's worth taking a fresh look at your insurance program if you have not done so in a while.
If you own a business and have questions about your own account, I'm always happy to talk through it. No sales pitch (I am not everything, to everyone). But sometimes it just helps to have someone explain what's actually going on and how you have more control than you think.
