Recently, I participated in the PurpleStride Walk/Run supporting pancreatic cancer awareness and research alongside friends, survivors, families, and supporters from across the Nashville community.

One of the reasons this event was especially meaningful to me was the opportunity to walk alongside my longtime friend and former Vanderbilt University colleague, Jay, and his wife Susan, who recently completed successful treatment for pancreatic cancer and was able to participate in the walk as a survivor. Jay and Susan also led Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s top fundraising team for the event, which made the day even more inspiring to be part of.

Thanks to the generosity of family and friends, I was also honored to raise over $1,000 in support of pancreatic cancer research and awareness. Grateful for everyone who contributed, participated, and continues supporting those impacted by this disease.

The Estate Plan That Looks Complete on Paper

April is Financial Literacy Month, a great reminder that learning about money can start early and at home.

Simple ways to begin:
• Let kids help with small purchases and talk through decisions
• Encourage saving with a jar or account for short-term goals
• Give an allowance tied to responsibility, not just spending
• Talk openly about needs vs. wants in everyday moments

These small habits can build confidence and understanding over time.

If you’re thinking about how to create a strong financial foundation for your family, we’re here to help.

And the numbers are hard to ar...
