Hurricane season is not that far away so take a few minutes review your coverages.

Here's a few tips for Florida homeowners.

1. Hurricane Deductible is normally 2% of your dwelling coverage also known as coverage A.

Case study:

My home is covered for $350k. That's coverage A or the dwelling. If I my home gets damage by the next cat 5 hurricane my deductible is $7k or 2% of coverage A.

FYI- If your hurricane coverage is 5% or higher your saving may not be worth the added risk.
