Word of the Week: **Addendum**

In real estate, the word *addendum* might not sound exciting, but it plays a big role in keeping deals clear and protected.

An **addendum** is simply an addition or change to a contract. Instead of rewriting the entire agreement, an addendum lets buyers and sellers update specific terms whether it’s repairs, closing dates, contingencies, or special conditions.

Why it matters:
In a fast-moving market, things change. An addendum keeps everything transparent, agreed upon, and in writing helping avoid misunderstandings later.

Quick example:
A home inspection reveals a needed repair. Rather than starting over, both parties sign an addendum outlining who will handle it and how.
