Turning 65? Don’t skip drug coverage.

Even if you don’t take medications, you need to enroll in drug coverage to avoid a lifetime Part D penalty.

✅ Most Medicare Advantage plans include drug coverage — even if you don’t use it, it protects you from the penalty.
⏳ If you go 63+ days without drug coverage, the penalty gets added to your premium.

New to Medicare? Your Initial Enrollment Period generally starts 3 months before you turn 65, includes the month you turn 65, and ends 3 months after you turn 65. 🩺 Medicare Part B Premium Increase
The standard Part B premium will jump from $185/month in 2025 to approximately $206.50/month in 2026 — a hike of $21.50/month (about 11.6%)

This unexpected rise is significantly larger than recent years’ increases and may offset much of the expected Social Security COLA (~2.7%) for many retirees.

📢 Medicare Updates for 2026!

Heads up! The Value-Based Insurance Design (VBID) model is ending after 2025. This means some $0 cost sharing and special benefits will no longer be available through Medicare Advantage plans.

✅ The good news: Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) will still be offered in 2026! These can include transportation, healthy food, and utility help — but not prescription drug cost-sharing.

💊 Also, the Part D out-of-pocket max is increasing to $2,100 and the deductible is rising to $615 in 2026.
