This guy begged me not to arrest him just before Christmas and he gave me his word that he would turn himself in just after the holidays. Instead he blocked me and went on the run not even caring his best friend of years co signed and was on the hook for his bond. Hopefully he will get the help he needs.

Scammers are calling defendants family and trying to get a payment for a pre trial release program for release out of jail...ITS A SCAM. They are even going as far as calling people after I've bailed them out of jail, saying that their bond will be revoked if they don't pay additional fees. So be careful out there.

DEPUTIES ARREST FUGITIVE AFTER BRIEF STANDOFF

At approximately 7:56 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office received a call to assist with an incident after several bail bondsmen attempted to recover a fugitive from a residence in Maysville.

Bail bondsmen searched the home at 2656 White Oak River Road as Brian Franklin Fry, 42, of Maysville, was located in a closet inside the residence. After several attempts to take Fry into custody, Fry made his way into a bathroom, where he started a fire, and gunshots could be heard coming from inside the home.

No one was injured as a result of the shots being fired.

Maysville Fire Department, with the assistance of Pollocksville Volunteer Fire Department, Western Carteret Fire and EMS, and Pumpkin Center Volunteer Fire, extinguished the fire. Deputies entered the home and located Fry in a back bedroom closet.

Fry was taken into custody and transported to Onslow Memorial Hospital.

Fry was released and taken to the Onslow County Detention Center under no bond. Fry was originally wanted for failure to appear for court in Onslow County on July 25, 2024, for felony statutory s*x offense with a child and felony indecent liberties with a child.

Deputies seized a handgun as the case remains open for investigation with future charges pending.

A Maysville man was arrested Sunday night after a standoff with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office which included the man allegedly starting a fire in the home.

It's getting absolutely ridiculous and taxpayers should be extremely pi**ed. Some of our district court judges are letting everyone go without a bond. And I mean people from ohio, pennsylvania and a lot of these people will not come back to court, because there's no reason for them too, we will not extradite them. that is lost money to Dare County via court cost and fines Not to mention the hours and hours, it takes for a police officer to process someone. It's a waste of resources and a loos of money if we're not gonna make them come back to court.
