🌟 GET TO KNOW THE TEAM: NICK THOMASON 🌟

What do smoked ribeyes, old movies, world travel, and one amazing cat named Odyssey have in common? They’re all favorites of, Nick Thomason! 😎

Nick has been part of the Ted Smith State Farm team for a year and a half, and what he enjoys most about his job is helping customers explore ways to protect the people and things that matter to them. ❤️

But there’s a lot more to Nick than insurance! Here’s your chance to get to know him a little better:

One of Nick’s favorite things about Nacogdoches is the way the town and nature come together. He loves seeing wildlife while driving around town and appreciates the friendly people who make our community feel like home. 🌲🦌

🌟 TEAM SPOTLIGHT: CRYSTAL PATTERSON 🌟

If she’s not at Ted Smith State Farm, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll find Crystal somewhere outdoors—with a fishing rod, at the deer lease, or alongside her four-legged “velociraptor.” 😂🐶

Crystal Patterson joined our team in January 2026 as a Sales Team Member, bringing her outgoing personality and love for helping others to the office.

Originally from Waco, Texas, Crystal is happiest outside. She and her boyfriend enjoy spending their free time at Lake Nacogdoches and the deer lease, and her favorite hobbies are duck and deer hunting. 🦆🦌

So, what else should you know about Crystal?

☕ Coffee—or as Crystal calls it, “bean juice”—is a MUST.
🏈 She’s an Aggie through and through. Gig ’em! 👍
🍕 You can’t go wrong with pizza from Napoli’s.
🎣 Her ideal getaway is Port O’Connor, fishing for redfish, trout, and flounder.
🌊 Sea duck hunting in Alaska is on her bucket list.
🌿 And if she weren’t working in insurance, she could see herself doing something in outdoor conservation.

Oh, and about that velociraptor… 😂 Crystal has a 3-year-old black Lab who is full of energy, loves to chomp, and also happens to be a pretty great hunting partner. 🐾

The Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce will host a Candidate Forum during its Fourth Friday Luncheon on Friday, Aug. 28, from noon to 2 p.m. at The Fredonia Hotel & Convention Center.

The forum will provide voters with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking election in local and state races ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.

Meet Mayra Garcia, one of our Customer Service Representatives! Mayra has been part of our team for 4 years, and one of the things she enjoys most about her job is building relationships with our customers and being there to help when they have questions.

Mayra especially enjoys helping customers better understand their coverage. Insurance can sometimes feel confusing, and she loves being able to make things a little easier to understand! 😊

When she’s not at the office, Mayra enjoys spending time with her family or her best friend in Dallas. Family is also what she says she’s most grateful for. ❤️
