WE ARE DEBT-FREE!!!!
$45,000 paid off in 17 months!

No credit card payments 💳
No student loan payments 👨‍🎓
No car payments 🚗

Last year I married the man of my dreams. I also married his debt. We decided that we didn’t want our hard earned money going to credit card companies, student loan companies or car companies anymore! Our minimum payments totalled close to $700/month! By eliminating these payments, we are now in control of where that money goes every month! Talk about giving ourselves a raise!

This was not easy by any means! We worked. And worked some more! But ultimately we achieved our goal by:
1. Monthly Budget Meetings
2. Side Hustles
3. Contentment
4. Knowing our WHY

This has been a journey for us. It had lots of ups and lots of downs. We had cheerleaders and we had critics. At the end of the day, this is how we want to live our lives. We will not borrow money. We will live below our means. We will give to others. We will communicate with one another. We will work together to create a life we love. And for us, all this starts with TALKING ABOUT MONEY! I know it’s uncomfortable and awkward, but when it isn’t taboo you will see a shift.

I want to encourage anyone that’s on a similar journey to keep going. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. If you’re thinking that this is something that you want to try, do it. If you think you’re too old, you’re not. If you believe you have to be starving to be an artist, I beg to differ. If you think you don’t make enough, or are in too much debt, or have too much stacked against you, just take a step.

If you are at all intrigued by living the debt-free life, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I LOVE to have honest conversations about money and personal finance with anyone that wants to chat!

I’m sure you’ve already been inundated with emails, commercials and mail regarding all the Black Friday deals coming up! It can be so tempting to fill your cart with everything that’s even slightly discounted. But make sure you’re intentional with what you’re buying! And most importantly, ask yourself a simple question…

Have I budgeted for this?

What “in budget” Black Friday deals do you plan to take advantage of this year?

I’m a big fan of High Yield Savings Accounts! Basically I’m a big fan of watching my money grow without lifting a finger. I’m not talking huge dollar signs here people - but every bit helps!

If you are working on growing your savings - I would highly recommend a HYSA!

Things to look for…
- What is the APY? (You want at least .4%)
- Is there a minimum initial deposit?
- Is there a minimum daily balance?

In our family, we use 2 different HYSA’s. The first one is our EMERGENCY FUND. The second one we have is for our SINKING FUNDS. Within that account we are saving for things like vacations, cars, vet visits and Christmas! I like having these accounts separate because it allows me to pretend the emergency fund money doesn’t exist! If I don’t see it, I’m not tempted to use it! But you choose to do whatever works best for you!

Do you have a HYSA? If not, do you plan to open one?

What on earth is NET WORTH and how do I calculate mine???

Net worth is essentially what you own minus what you owe! That’s it! Nothing too crazy right?

If you’d like to calculate where your net worth currently stands you simply add up all your assets and subtract all your liabilities. It’s a very simple equation.

Don’t become too obsessed with this number. However, if you’re just starting out on your financial journey I would suggest calculating it. Then, as you work towards your financial goals you will see your progress in a quantitative way! Write it down, then slowly start to see that number go up!

Warning! Don’t panic if you’re in the negatives! This can happen! Remember, your net worth IS NOT your self worth! Know that there are actionable steps to turn that negative into a positive! And I will be right here with you to guide you!
