You may have heard the word collateral when talking about a loan, but what does it actually mean?

Collateral is an asset that helps secure a loan. Depending on the type of loan, that could be something like your vehicle or your home.

For example, with a Home Equity Loan, your home serves as collateral for the money you borrow.

Understanding terms like collateral can make it easier to know exactly what you’re agreeing to before taking out a loan. The more you know, the more confidently you can make decisions that work for you.

In celebration of CU Kind Day, our Staff and Board of Directors came together to personally donate to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library through the United Way of the Lakeshore! 📚✨

Inspired by Dolly Parton’s well-known kindness and commitment to helping children, we felt this wonderful organization was the perfect choice for this year’s CU Kind Day.

Together, we raised $660 to support the gift of reading and help bring the joy of books to children in our community! ❤️📖

International Credit Union Day is coming up, and this year we’re celebrating what credit unions are all about: People Helping People. 💙

Stop by our office now through October 15 and fill out a paper hand cutout for our community wall by answering one simple question:

FRAUD ALERT: PLEASE BE AWARE!

Lakeshore Federal CU has been made aware of a scam involving fraudsters who are spoofing our phone number to make it appear as though they are calling from our credit union. These individuals may ask for personal or confidential account information.

🔒 Your security is our priority! Please remember:
❌ Never share your password, PIN, or online banking login credentials.
❌ Never provide sensitive account information to someone simply because your caller ID displays our credit union’s phone number.
✅ If you receive a suspicious call, hang up and contact us directly using the phone number listed on our official website.

Caller ID can be faked! A call that appears to come from our credit union may not actually be from us.

If you have received a suspicious call or believe you may have shared information with a scammer, please contact us immediately so we can help you take the appropriate steps to protect your account.
