Racer Arena, located on the Murray State University campus at 14th Street between Olive and Payne Streets will be open today beginning at 6:00 pm as a storm shelter for those that may need it.

Please continue to monitor local media and US National Weather Service Paducah Kentucky for updates regarding the potential for severe weather this afternoon and evening. Also be sure to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and review your emergency plans.

We are getting reports of locally dense fog across portions of western Kentucky this afternoon. The dense fog is only expected linger for a couple hours before improving. Be sure to turn on your headlights and allow extra time for travel if you are out and about this afternoon.

If you use a generator during a power outage, please turn off your home’s main breaker first. This keeps electricity from flowing back into power lines and helps protect utility workers as they work to restore service
