Helpful Credit Tip: Authorized Users

Adding someone as an authorized user can be a great way to help build credit—but not all credit card companies report authorized users the same way.

Some lenders report the open date as the day the authorized user was added, not the original account open date. When that happens, the account history may provide little to no benefit to the borrower’s credit score.
It’s also important to note:

• Open dates cannot be changed through a Rapid Rescore
• Authorized user accounts cannot be added via Rapid Rescore

Understanding how accounts report can make all the difference when building or improving credit.
