We are hiring! If interested, please submit your resume to [email protected]. We will accept them until February 28th. Interviews will take place in March, and the goal is for a new coordinator to shadow and work with our current coordinator in April.
Expected job duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Schedule and conduct education programs on agriculture literacy in the schools in Jackson County. This will include working with teachers and providing teachers with agriculture lesson plans and resources. This will also include giving agricultural presentations to the classrooms and teachers.
2. Work with committees, manager, and Board of Directors to schedule meetings and activities. Work with volunteers for fundraising events and help recruit, train, coordinate, and collaborate with volunteers to provide development of curriculum materials and classroom presentations.
3. Develop rapport with teachers, staff, principals, superintendents, and regional superintendents via newsletters and personal visits. Develop a rapport and relationship with the Farm Bureau members and donors.
4. Create an awareness of agricultural career opportunities through education, counselors, teachers, and students.
5. Oversee, promote, and carry out lesson kits to all schools within Jackson County. This will include promoting and making presentations about lesson kits, scheduling the use of the kits, hand delivering the kits, and restocking the supplies within the kits.
6. Assist teachers and volunteers with setting up farm tours, field trips, and other related classroom special activities and providing related curriculum materials.
7. Plan, recruit, and execute a successful Summer Ag Institute program of professional development for teachers.
8. Work with local media to cover and promote Ag in the Classroom events.
9. Participate in and make presentations at institutes and workshops with all public and private schools to promote agricultural education.
10. Create an awareness of the value, vastness, and diversity of agriculture in Jackson County.
11. Attend statewide and regionalized Ag Literacy meetings and prepare requested reports.
