Spring time is here and with that comes storms and a lot of rain! April showers bring May flowers.
Let's talk about Flood insurance!
A flood is defined as water covering normally dry land, such as from:
Heavy or prolonged rain
River or creek overflow
Storm surge or hurricanes
Rapid snowmelt
Mudflow caused by water
Even just a few inches of water can cause significant damage.
Flooding is the most common natural disaster in the U.S.
Floods can happen outside of higher-risk flood zones.
Federal disaster assistance is not guaranteed.
Did you know?
***Flooding is not covered under your Homeowners or Renters policies.
***If you have personal property (furniture, clothing, electronics, and appliances) damaged by flooding, your Homeowners or Renters policies will not cover those damages- only a separate Flood policy will, with personal property coverage added. This is an optional coverage and is not automatically added to a Flood policy.
***Flood insurance is affordable! Premium is considerably less in non-flood zone areas.
Just because your home is not in a flood zone does not mean it cannot be flooded. Tennessee weather has a mind of its own, as we are all aware of! If this has been on your mind or a concern, please reach out!
