Fifty-three years ago today, Roberto Clemente died trying to do what he always did: help someone else.

That matters.

Because time has a way of turning people into statues. Bronze smiles. Numbers on jerseys. Names on bridges. We remember the swing, the cannon arm from right field, the grace that made baseball look like something holy.

But Clemente was never chasing immortality. He was chasing responsibility.

He believed talent came with an obligation. That if you were given more, you were supposed to do more. So when an earthquake devastated Nicaragua, he didn’t send a check. He got on a plane. He went himself. He wanted to make sure the help actually arrived.

That plane never made it.

And yet, somehow, he did.

Because here we are, more than half a century later, still talking about him. Still teaching his name to our kids. Still holding him up as proof that greatness isn’t measured only in statistics, but in sacrifice.

Clemente once said, “Anytime you have an opportunity to make a difference in this world and you don’t, then you are wasting your time on Earth.”

On this anniversary of his passing, remember this:
He didn’t just play baseball beautifully.

He lived beautifully.

And in a world that still needs examples of decency, courage, and selflessness, Roberto Clemente remains very much alive.

Our 25+ year tradition continues. This coming Saturday December 20th we will be bringing Santa around. Pictured in the map are the areas we are doing in order. We will be posting updates throughout the day as to when each zone is ending and starting but are also bringing back our Santa tracker to see our exact whereabouts throughout the day. We will be starting at 9:00 am in Zone 1. If we don’t cover everything Saturday we will hopefully be able to coordinate with Santa for Sunday to finish. Follow our page for updates.
