I have lived in Muncie since 2009, and my wife and I cannot imagine calling anywhere else home. Our community is such a wonderful area to raise our five children, and I have also been lucky to see firsthand how much the area has grown and become more diverse over the years. A perfect day for me is running or biking in the morning, spending time with our children at their activities in the afternoon, and eating dinner with family in the evening.I began my career in the insurance industry in 2008, and I started working for Allstate in 2009. I was fortunate to open the doors to my current Allstate location in 2011. I know and love life here, and it’s important for me to give back to the community that I care so much about, and I am grateful that Allstate encourages and supports my efforts. I am active with the Boy Scouts of America, sponsor local high school sports programs and participate in the Feed My Sheep organization, which feeds hundreds of area residents on Thanksgiving Day. I also was able to secure an Allstate Good Hands in Community grant for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department for the work we did with the X the Text program, and I enjoy meeting with local business leaders at the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce.I’m in the insurance industry because I love working with and helping people, and I believe treating people courteously and honestly is the only way to do business. As a follow up to last week's "Hear me out…"

Our office policy's alone have paid out millions of dollars to replace roofs from wind / hail damage in the last couple of years.

After seeing what wind and hail can do to a roof—and what it costs to replace one—I think we need to apply the same logic we proposed for cars.

Giant. Black. Indestructible. Roof bumpers.

Yes, traditional shingles look better.

Yes, your homeowners association may have some questions.

And yes, this may reduce your home’s curb appeal by approximately 100%.

But imagine watching golf-ball-sized hail bounce harmlessly into your neighbor’s yard while your house sits there wearing the architectural equivalent of a protective phone case.

If we can all put our vanity aside, I believe the Postal Bumper Roof Initiative could save us a fortune.

It isn’t pretty—but neither is finding half your roof in the backyard after a windstorm.
