We’ve had lots of claims come in from last night’s storm. With storms come storm chasers. Please be cautious of signing up with contractors from out of town or any contractor that asks you to sign ANYTHING before they give you a complete estimate. This is a tactic that some companies use to lock you into using them for your repairs.

Choose local repair companies. They will still be here for you if there is a problem.

We hope that everyone is okay after tonight’s storms.

With the hail that we had this evening, it will definitely bring in storm chaser roofing crews to town. These are the companies that blow into town when there is a hail storm and blow out of town just as quickly. Please be careful with who you choose to let look at your roof. Try to pick a local company that will be here to help if there is a problem after the roof is installed.

PLEASE do not sign anything. Many of these forms state that if they do this estimate, and you choose not to use them for the repairs, you are responsible for paying them a percentage of your total claim. This stipulation is usually written on the back of the sheet in light grey print.

With the potential winter weather on the way, please take a minute to take precautions to avoid frozen pipes in your home by letting a small stream of water run, removing any hoses from exterior faucets and opening cabinet doors to allow heat to get to the pipes.

Also put some items in your car to help in the event of a slide off or dead battery (small shovel, jumper cables, salt, warm clothes & blankets).
