🚨 New Medicare Changes… Let’s Clear Up the Noise 🚨

Seeing posts saying “everything is changing”?! 😅

ℍ𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕝 𝕢𝕦𝕚𝕔𝕜 𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕚𝕠𝕟:

💻 Social Media: “Switch plans ASAP!”
💛 My Take: Not so fast — most people just need a quick review, not a panic move.

💻 Social Media: “You can switch anytime if your doctor leaves!”
💛 My Take: Sometimes — but not always. It depends on your situation.

💻 Social Media: “Drugs are way cheaper now!”
💛 My Take: Costs can be easier to manage, but not always lower.

💻 Social Media: “Plans can’t deny anything anymore!”
💛 My Take: Protections improved 👍 but rules still exist.

✨ Bottom line: Medicare is getting more detailed — not impossible. That’s where having someone local that specializes in understanding all the noise helps! 💛

‼️Did you know that the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period ends March 31?

If you’re in a Medicare Advantage Plan, right now you still can:

✔️ Switch to a different plan
✔️ Return to Original Medicare & add Part D

If you made a switch during AEP and aren’t happy with you’re new plan, didn’t get around to doing an annual review at that time and your plan changed on you, we still have time to look at things!

🎉 Turning 65? Here's a Checklist to Enroll in Medicare and Social Security! 🎉

If you're approaching 65, it’s time to start planning for your Medicare and Social Security enrollment! To make the process easier, I've put together a helpful little checklist to ensure you don’t miss any important steps:

📋 Medicare Enrollment Checklist:

✅ Understand your Medicare options. You can enroll in Original Medicare (Parts A & 😎 or a Medicare Advantage plan (Part C).
✅ Sign up for Medicare Part A and Part B – If you're not automatically enrolled, apply online or through Social Security.
✅ Consider additional coverage – Explore Medigap (Supplemental Insurance) and/or Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage).
✅ Review your healthcare needs – Choose the plan that best fits your health needs and budget.

💼 Social Security Enrollment Checklist:

✅ Sign up for Social Security benefits – If you plan to start receiving Social Security at 65, apply online or in-person.
✅ Consider your full retirement age – Understand when you can begin receiving full benefits based on your birth year.
✅ Review your work history – Ensure your earnings records are accurate to avoid any issues with your benefits.
✅ Set up your direct deposit – Make sure your payments are sent to the right bank account.

❄️ Southern Ice Storm Prep — Save & Share ❄️

Ice storms hit different down here. A little prep (and checking on each other) makes a big difference.

Before it hits:
• Charge phones & power banks
• Fill gas tanks + grab some cash
• Refill prescriptions early
• Download movies/maps for offline use
• Set fridge/freezer colder & pick a warm room

Protect pipes & water:
• Drip exterior faucets
• Open sink cabinets
• Disconnect hoses & cover spigots
• Fill a few jugs/tubs with water

Food, heat & safety:
• 3–5 days of no-cook food
• Lanterns/flashlights + blankets
• Never use grills or generators indoors
• Test smoke & CO detectors

Travel & power:
• Avoid driving — bridges freeze first
• Unplug sensitive electronics
• Keep fridge closed during outages

Check on people (especially this):
• Call or physically check on elderly neighbors
• Don’t forget folks who aren’t tech-savvy or don’t have internet
• Make sure they have heat, meds, food & a charged phone
• Share info about warming centers if needed

Pets:
• Bring pets inside with extra food & water

❄️ Southern reality:
¼” ice = outages
½” ice = days of disruption
Ice is more dangerous than snow here.

✨ Bright side: nowhere to go, nowhere to be… just home, coffee, and your people. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂
