🛡️ Fraud Fighter Friday: Watch Out for Tech Support Scams! 💻

You get a call, email, text, or pop-up warning that there’s a serious problem with your computer. The person claims to be from a well-known technology company and offers to “fix” the issue.

🚨 Don’t fall for it! Tech support scammers often impersonate legitimate companies and try to convince you to:

- Give them remote access to your computer
- Provide passwords or other personal information
- Pay for repairs, software, or services you don’t need
- Send money through unusual payment methods

Protect yourself:
✔️ Don’t give an unexpected caller remote access to your computer.
✔️ Never share passwords, verification codes, or banking information.
✔️ Don’t click links or call phone numbers in unexpected pop-up warnings.
✔️ If you’re concerned about your computer, contact the company directly using a phone number or website you know is legitimate.
✔️ Be suspicious of anyone pressuring you to act or pay immediately.

Remember: A scary computer warning doesn’t always mean there’s a problem—but it may mean there’s a scammer trying to create one.

☀️⛳ Now THAT is dedication to the game!

Our CFB lenders braved the 100-degree heat at today’s annual Rend Lake College Foundation Golf Tournament! 🥵🏌️‍♂️

Despite the hot day on the course, it was a great opportunity to support the Rend Lake College Foundation and the students and programs it serves.

At CFB, we believe strong communities start with investing in the people and organizations that make them better. We’re proud to support opportunities for local students and the future of our region — even when the temperature hits triple digits! 💙⛳

Karen and Steve are hard at work today… just with a slightly better view! 😂⛳️

Several of our CFB team members hit the course for the Annual Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it! 😉

We’re proud to support the Chamber and the work they do to strengthen our local business community!

👀 One of the best ways to fight fraud takes less than a minute.

Make it a habit to check your bank account every day. A quick look at your balances and recent transactions can help you spot unauthorized activity early—before it turns into a bigger problem.

With Community First Bank's Digital Banking, it's easy:
📱 Review your account balances anytime, anywhere.
💳 Check your recent transactions in seconds.
🔔 Set up account alerts to receive a text message or email whenever transactions occur, so you'll know about activity on your account as it happens.

Think of it like checking the weather or your email each morning. Start your day with a quick glance at your bank accounts. It's one of the simplest habits you can build to help protect your hard-earned money.

🛡️ The sooner you spot suspicious activity, the sooner you can report it and take action.

💳 When someone tells you there's "only one way to pay"... it's probably a scam.

Scammers don't just ask for money—they tell you exactly how you have to pay. That's because they choose payment methods that are difficult or impossible to recover once the money is sent.

🚩 Be suspicious if you're told the ONLY way to pay is by:
• Bank transfer
• Wire transfer
• Cryptocurrency
• Payment apps
• Gift cards

Whether they're pretending to be your bank, a government agency, a utility company, or even a family member in trouble, their goal is the same: to get your money before you have time to think.

🛑 Pause before you pay.
If someone insists on one specific payment method, take it as a major red flag. Contact the business or organization directly using a phone number or website you know is legitimate before sending any money.

🛡️ The best defense against fraud is slowing down and verifying first.
