Through a partnership with The American Red Cross, we can offer free smoke alarms, including installation, to home owners that live in a single-family home within the Jefferson Fire Protection District ( including the Villages of Belle Rive, Bonnie, Dix, Ina and Opdyke).
This means we will come to your home and install up or replace up to 3 smoke alarms, absolutely for free! They are a 10-year, lithium battery Kidder smoke alarms that don't need battery changes every year.
This program allows the Jefferson Fire Protection District to keep extra smoke alarms on our apparatus, in case we respond to a home with no smoke alarms.
Smoke alarms can provide your family with crucial eaely warning time to get out of the house quickly before toxic fumes accumulate to lethal levels.
Jefferson Fire Protection District believes smoke alarms are a key factor in preventing fire-related deaths and it is our goal to have at least one working smoke alarm in every home to protect our citizens.
Each year, 3 out of 4 home fire deaths is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms.
The risk of dying in a reporter home fire is cut in half in homes with working smoke alarms.
Smoke alarms fail most of the time because of missing, disconnected or dead batteries.
Jefferson Fire Protection District will be working in groups of 2 or 3 members while installing smoke alarms.
