GCMS Agricultural Business Management students recently got a firsthand look at personal finance with help from two local professionals.

Longview Community Bank Loan Officer and GCMS FFA alumnus Ben Wurmnest discussed credit scores, loans, interest rates, and the cost of borrowing. Brian Steidinger with Edward Jones covered saving, investing, compound growth, and Roth IRAs.

Great job, Ben, for giving back to your alma mater and helping students prepare for the financial decisions ahead!

Congratulations to our October Student of the Month, Josie Kleist!

A leader, volunteer, and outstanding student at GCMS, Josie serves as President of Prairieland CEO, Vice President of FBLA, and is active in Student Council, Outreach, Bigs and Littles, and volleyball. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and was named Student of the Year during both her freshman and sophomore years.

Beyond school, Josie volunteers with Kids' Day, All Awareness Day, and the Gibson Area Hospital Food Pantry. The daughter of Dan and Allison Kleist, she plans to study Accounting or Actuarial Science.

Congratulations, Josie, on this impressive achievement! We are proud to recognize your hard work and dedication.

She was inducted into NHS as a junior and was named Student of the Year for her freshmen and sophomore years. She volunteers in the community at Kids' Day, All Awareness Day and at the Gibson Area Hospital Food Pantry. The daughter of Dan and Allison Kleist, Josie is still looking at universities and intends to major in Accounting/Actuarial Science. She was nominated by Mrs Killian, pictured here along with Longview Community Bank rep (and her CEO advisor) Ben Wurmnest.

Fall is making its way to downtown Gibson City, and we're excited to be part of the first annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest!

Over the next few days, you'll see nearly 25 creative scarecrows popping up throughout downtown, including Longview Community Bank's entry. New scarecrow-themed banners will also be displayed along Main Street, bringing even more seasonal charm to our community.

Be sure to take a stroll downtown, check out all the scarecrows, and enjoy the sights of fall in Gibson City. We are proud to support events that bring the community together and showcase the creativity that makes our town special.

We had the honor of sponsoring swim caps for the Prairie State Cup Sprint Triathlon at Clinton Lake this past weekend. 70 Division I through Division III college athletes competed. 🏊

The discussion, moderated by IMA Board Chair Kara Demirjian Huss, provided valuable insights into inflation, interest rates, employment, trade, manufacturing trends, and the critical role the Federal Reserve plays in our economy. Attendees gained a better understanding of how today's economic conditions are shaping Illinois businesses, communities, and families.
