I think trust is one of the most misunderstood things in business. Most people assume trust is built in big moments, but trust is actually built in the small moments.

Returning the phone call.
Following through on what you said you would do.
Telling someone the truth when it would be easier to tell them what they want to hear.
Being available when it matters and honest when you don’t have all the answers.

Trust is earned one conversation, one kept promise, or one difficult discussion at a time.

Money is personal because life is personal. When people allow you into conversations about their families, businesses, dreams, fears, and futures, that trust should never be taken lightly and we definitely do not. We feel the great responsibility that it is in our very core.

How do you think trust is built?

I think every house in America has a drawer full of delayed decisions.

Receipts we meant to expense.
Warranty papers we never read and forget about.
Business cards from people we intended to call back.
Notes about things we were “going to deal with later.”

What’s funny is…our financial lives often look the same.

Old accounts we haven’t reviewed in quite some time.
Beneficiaries we forgot to update.
Insurance policies we aren’t even sure still fit. Sometimes we forget about these, too!
Investment decisions made for a version of life that may no longer exist.

Not because people are lazy, but because life is busy and decision fatigue is no joke.

It’s easy for things to get away from us.
Businesses grow.
Kids grow up.
Parents age.
And eventually people stop making intentional decisions and start managing piles.

Honestly, sometimes my job involves helping people quietly untangle years of postponed decisions. There’s usually a moment in those conversations where someone exhales and says:
“I’ve needed to deal with this for a long time.”

No shame in that. Just a reminder that avoidance compounds too. Maybe today is a good day to clean out one drawer or sort through one pile.

Momentum starts smaller than people think.

May 24, 2026 marked a new milestone for Katy, our Sr. Branch Office Administrator! She has now been with us as our business partner in our Edward Jones office for 5 years!

Five years ago, I sat across from Katy to interview her and told her that I wasn’t looking for “just an employee.” I was looking for a business partner, someone to care deeply, think strategically, lead courageously, and help build something meaningful alongside me.

Katy has taken that vision and absolutely run with it.

She is an important part of our success, our growth, and honestly, our day-to-day sanity. She has carried more than simply marking off tasks. She carries responsibility, leadership, trust, and heart. She serves our clients with care and empathy and manages our team with professionalism and grace. Together, we have weathered challenges, celebrated wins, adapted, rebuilt, dreamed bigger, and continue pushing forward together. Through all of it, Katy’s loyalty, dedication, wisdom, and work ethic have never wavered.

There are people who simply “do a job,” and then there are people who leave fingerprints on the foundation of something being built. Katy is firmly in the latter category.

Thank you for believing in the vision and for your steady commitment in difficult seasons and joyful attitude in victorious ones.

I am incredibly proud of what we’ve built together, and I am even more excited about where we’re headed next.

Happy 5-year anniversary, Katy. This business is better because of you, and so am I.

Funny how quickly children learn the language of money without anyone formally teaching it to them.

From overheard arguments in the kitchen.
From suddenly hearing the phrase “we can’t afford that.”
From the car that keeps making “that noise” for six months.
From dance or music lessons or trips that quietly disappear.
From the way adults tense up when certain subjects come up.
From realizing with observation that some people seem calm around money and others seem haunted by it.

Growing up, I didn’t hear much talk about interest rates or investing or retirement planning. I didn’t understand money, but I understood embarrassment. I understood tension. I saw a difference between people who treated money like a tool and people who felt chased by it.

I also learned that money itself doesn’t automatically create peace. I’ve known people with very little who slept soundly at night and people with plenty who never truly relaxed a day in their lives.

Long before I ever worked in finance, I think I was really studying people. Their fears. Their hopes. Their relationship with security, freedom, identity, and worth.

Ironically, I still think that’s the real work.

The numbers matter, of course, but behind every financial decision is a human being trying to build a life that feels safe, meaningful, and maybe just a little less overwhelming.

That’s the part of this work I’ve come to love most.
